The board's primary responsibilities include:

• Developing short-term and long-term goals for TUMEL
• Creating strategic objectives that guide the organization's direction
• Monitoring and evaluating progress towards these goals

Governance and Oversight

• Maintaining clear distinctions between board and management roles
• Ensuring good corporate governance practices
• Establishing mechanisms to track organizational performance

Decision-Making

• Providing high-level guidance for the organizations
• Assessing and approving major organizational decisions
• Setting long-term strategic vision

Relationship with Management

The board works closely with TUMEL's management team, led by Mr. Benard Nyakundi, to ensure that organizational resources are effectively developed, maintained, and allocated to achieve strategic objectives.

Prof Laila Uweso Abubakar holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Bio-Chemistry from the University of Nairobi, a Master of Science in Biochemistry & Chemistry and a Bachelor of Science (Biochemistry & Chemistry) from the University of Nairobi.
CPA Mohammed Loo
Board Member
CPA Loo holds a Master’s Degree in Finance and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting. He is a fully qualified Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K), Certified Secretary (CSK), and a Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and Institute of Certified Secretaries of Kenya (ICSK). He is the Director of Badi Loo & Associates and Muhammad Loo & Associates.
